Timo Halonen, Executive Director Timo Halonen is Executive Director and member of the Board of medRF. medRF is the recognized business development organisation fostering wireless medical industry convergence and bridging Japanese medical device and diagnostics companies in Europe and North America. Timo has been directly involved with ICT, particularly Wireless, and Gastroenterology business development in Japan since 1997.
Prior to joining medRF; Mr. Halonen founded Open Standard Solutions (OSS), where he currently serves as President and Chairman of the Board. Prior to OSS, Mr. Halonen held senior management and Japan Representative Director positions at Wireless and Medical Device Market Entry support organisation Asia Business Advisor (ABA) especially in Wi-Fi, UWB and LTE network testing segments, Medical Device and Diagnostics company Biohit Japan and Access Technology Japan; as well as previous work experience in Chicago with Finnish Government, Life-Science industry in London, Insurance industry in Finland, and Nokia Mobile Phones K.K. in Tokyo. Timo is a graduate of Essex University in the UK in Japanese, and holds Political Science and Marketing degrees from Turku University and Hameenlinna Institute of Technology from Finland, respectively. Norihisa Shibuya, General Counsel As wireless semiconductor expert, Mr. Shibuya started and represented three significant wireless technologies based companies to Japanese market, including Wibree, and independent proprietary health network systems listed in Continua organization. Mr. Shibuya was the first initiator of Wibree in the Japanese market (i.e. currently BLE technology) to promote in the Japanese market and consequently activated the first pilot experiment cases with world leading health monitor companies in Japan.
Prior to wireless networking promotion expert, he was manager at Infineon Technologies Japan and ST Microelectronics in Japan in the field of computer peripheral, Industry segment and Consumer segment sales and marketing. Makoto Hirayama, Business Development Director
Mr. Hirayama has over thirty years of experience in senior management and as a management consultant to Japanese and U.S. technology companies. Mr. Hirayama was General Manager of Information Services of NEC, Director of AMP, Inc., Director of Cisco KK, Director of NTT Communications, and Director of Japan Venture Partners, LLC. He is, at present, Japan Representative of Fulton Innovation, LLC. His industry experience covers wireless and wired networking and telecommunications gears and software sales. His clients and partners have included GE, IBM, CTC, Sumitomo Shoji, NTT, NTT DoCoMo, NTT Data, KDDI, Softbank, NEC, Sony, Panasonic, Toshiba and Sharp, among others. Mr. Hirayama has been in charge of sales and marketing of various network systems, LAN switches and wireless technologies including RFID systems. Mr. Hirayama was responsible for the strategic negotiations and coordinated the effort in setting up channels, getting an approval from the Ministry of Health and Welfare and other government organisations. Mr. Hirayama is a graduate of Keio University. Atsushi Koshio, Healthcare Business Director Mr. Koshio is Healthcare Business specialist especially focusing on Healthcare Information Technology and Supply Chain Management. His working area are Hospital Information System, Supply Chain Management System and Transfusion Management System using RFID, Medication Administration System, Cost Accounting System and ERP System in Healthcare settings. He has been involved with many research projects and experimental projects for Healthcare IT funded by Ministry of Health Labor and Welfare (MHLW); Ministry of Public Management, Home Affairs, Posts and Telecommunications (MPHPT); Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT); and World Health Organization (WHO). After finishing Graduate School in the University of Tokyo, he worked at Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as a Visiting Scholar for Healthcare IT projects. He is currently working for Department of Health Policy and Management at Nippon Medical School as an Assistant Professor for Hospital Management and Regional Healthcare Management. He received awards from Asia Pacific Medical Informatics Association and Japanese Association for Medical Informatics. Norihito Kosukegawa, Technical Support & IP Licensing Director Mr. Kosukegawa has over 15 years of system and circuit design experience, most recently with SONICS, Motorola and Freescale Semiconductor. His competence areas include working on Analog Circuit Simulator, Hardware Description Language, Analog/Digital Mixed Mode Simulator, Verification/Synthesis of RC Compiler, PrimeTime; and NoC. He has been responsible for Omron MCU LCD Driver project for ROM and LCD Design & Verification, SPICE Simulation, Gate Simulation and Test Pattern Generation. Norihito has extensive technical support experience in complex IP tools configuration and IP licensing areas with major Japanese chipset manufacturers including Toshiba, SONY, Fujitsu and Panasonic.
Remel Salmingo, Consultant - Orthopaedics & Spine
As a Human Mechanical Systems and Design specialist focusing on orthopaedic biomechanics, medical implant and instrument development, 3D solid modeling and image reconstruction, Remel has been in charge of research, conceptualization, product design and project coordination up to clinical trials of medical devices. He developed orthopedic implant devices such as anterior cervical plate system for the cervical spine and intramedullary distal targeting devices for trauma fixation.
Mr. Salmingo is a recipient of the Japanese government research scholarship. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Technological University of the Philippines-Visayas, holds a degree of Master of Engineering in Human Mechanical Systems and Design from Hokkaido University, Japan and is currently a PhD Student in Human Mechanical Systems and Design at Hokkaido University. He also presented his research in various academic conferences.  Kentaro Sugama, Consultant - Bluetooth & WiFi
Mr. Sugama has extensive experience in the wireless semiconductor and embedded product market. Prior to embedded segment, Mr. Sugama had developed consumer industry products in a Japanese conglomerate as a hardware & software engineer for seven years as well as an FAE to support MPU. Since then Mr. Sugama has been supporting Bluetooth chip and software stack for the last 10+ years. Mr. Sugama co-worked with many Japanese tier 1 customers with product lines including mobile phone/PC/automotive/headset/DMP/DSC/DVC and industry products. Mr. Sugama has B.Sc. degree in Physics from Yokohama City University. Masumi Takahashi, Consultant - BioInformatics & LifeScience 7 years of experience and background of infrastructure/application design in Information Technologies especially in HPC sector. Focus on system integration service specialised in BioInformatics. Mainly developing and producing software for mass spectrometry, metablome/proteomics and statistics/visualization, designing omics database based on customer needs. Strong Linux, UNIX, Java, Ruby on Rails, Php.C, mass++, C coding and Server experience.
Motohiro Saito, Consultant - Medical Devices Regulatory Affairs Mr. Saito has been involved in Medical Device and Medicine in Regulatory Affairs, Registration and Quality control for the last 25 years. His role has been consultation, discussion and interfacing with PMDA, MHLW, TUV (3rd party) and local governments in Japan. His involvement with Wireless Medical products covers, among others, Angio MRI related devices, CT Contrast Media Injector, Disposable Syringes and Tubes. Mr. Saito has performed successfully ISO 13485 responsible Manager and Sokatsu Manager projects under GQP/GVP. Mr. Saito has Master of Science degree in Chemistry.
